Quote of the day.

Pounding hooves, tossing mane,Take me swiftly on my life's journey.Loyal friend, carry me to a place of safety.Lift me over the obstacles of my path

It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.

Paul "Bear" Bryant

"There is something about jumping a horse over a fence, somethingthat makes you feel good. perhaps it is the risk,or the gamble. In any event it is a thing I need."

"Never let fear and commonsense hold you back!"

"Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and, once it has done so, he will have to accept that his life will be radically changed."

--Ralph Waldo Emerson

"A horse is 'disobedient' in exact proportion to how difficult he finds the task. The trainer's problem is not how to punish the 'disobedience' but to discover *why* the horse finds the task difficult!" --William Hillebrand

"Riding is a dance between horse and rider, the less the rider does the more beatiful the dance"

JackRabbit

So remeber when your horse gives you a hard day it just makes the good days even better, without a negative a postive would not exsist.

"Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.”

Show Prep

well so much goes into show prep on the day of but what about all you do before hand?
I am looking into all sorts of thing in the months ahead of a show.Condition is a main thing and deciding what level to show him.Now what about show coat, mane, tail. Making sure you are pre booked with the farrier in plenty of time ahead.Deciding whether or not to shoe for the season and when to do that. All your fees for the up and coming year. Also have a look at the shows you are hoping to attend and get a loose schedule in place. Also do you have to up your feed or the supplements such as flax to get that gloss. Also if you are toying with the idea to change bits do that soon so you and you horse are solid with the change before the shows. If you are like me and where half chaps more than your boots pull out the boots and ride in them too.Nothing like tight boots you haven't worn in months to cut of the feeling in your legs at a show. Also good idea to go over tack and get repairs done. Don't forget your show clothes do they still fi,t need, some steam, or did you loose a button. These things are all really simple things but pretty annoying when you get to the show ground and forgot you sewing kit..Also good time to clean out the trailer to. Mine is parked after the last time I used it and I haven't looked at it since... eek! Which leads to getting your tailer look at brakes light etc...If you take a a project a week you will be well ready to haul out.
Cheers
